The porcupine love continues

Well it's official.  I am now an employee at The AK Zoo!  I have 3 days under my belt and nearly 5 months left as the seasonal Camp Coordinator.  The days have been filled with learning so many animal facts, watching live animal programs, and listening to wolves howl (yeah you read that right).  I am definitely ready to get into the swing of things.

Now that my job has changed a bit I will be posting different things.  For example, I will be doing many day camps this summer and therefore lots of arts and crafts are in my blog's future.  Speaking of arts and crafts; on this fine Easter Sunday  I was working some of my final days with The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center.  I was in charge of the craft table.  We made our own easter bunny to take home.  Fun craft and super simple!

Ingredients: 1 plastic easter egg
                    cotton balls
                    glue
                    felt pieces for ears
                    googlie eyes
                    tooth picks
                    one small nose ball

directions: glue cotton balls around egg, add pieces as shown in picture.  Then you have yourself 1 homemade easter bunny.

Disclaimer: No bunnies were harmed in the making of this craft.

Now I did of course get to also do our annual Easter puppet show as well as present Snickers the porcupine.  I always love doing the porcupine programs.
That may have well been my last porcupine program with good ole Snickers.

It's been a good run.....4 years of fun with this stinky guy.

Love ya snickers.

Now if you know me; you know I have an unhealthy obsession with porcupine.  Well it's not that bad.....

Anyways it didn't take long for me to meet some of Snicker's cousins.

Meet Peggy Sue.  Peggy Sue was found on the side of the road and believed to have been hit by a car .  She has fully recovered; however due to permanent injuries cannot be released into the wild.   You can't see her teeth in this photo but they grow at weird angles due to the initial injuries.

I also love how her hair looks.  It falls over the front of her face.  Now that is what I call hair with body.  I wonder what type of hair products she uses.......

Wait there are more!
meet "Mr. Pickles"
yeah I know his name is awesome.

Mr. Pickles is a 2 year old orphan that has also found his forever phone at The AK Zoo.

I couldn't resist.....

More AK Zoo photos and stories to come!

One organization I would like to shine some light on is the Bird Treatment and Learning Center.

http://www.birdtlc.net

They are having their annual live and silent auction this coming saturday april 11th, and I am so excited to go!  They have all their education birds on glove when you enter the event.  I can't wait to get some good blog photos!

Well now that I have to drive an hour to work I have become a responsible adult which means going to bed at an appropriate time.

Goodnight lower, 48

Happy late Easter from Remi and Zelda.
