Bones and Fur

Another day into Anchorage for the best two interns ever!  Amelia and I headed into Anchorage around 11:00 after feeding snickers, julie, and preparing the eagle food.  We were doing a bones and fur program at Abbott Loop Elementery.  We bring four different animal skulls with other artifacts such as: fake poop, fur, paw replicas, and maybe even a claw. We discuss with the class different things to look for in the skull.  We have a saying: "If the eyes are in the front they hunt, and if the eyes are on the side they hid.  We also discuss the different types of teeth.  The canines, molars and incisors.  We worked with 2 different classes and then we headed home.
I am holding a Sitka Black Tailed Deer skull.

We finished our work day by feeding the eagle some salmon and the owls about 6 mice.

It really wasn't an interesting day.  However, tomorrow we will be having about 50 volunteers ages 14-17 from the army reserve helping us around the center.

I even topped off my night by cooking some red beans and rice that was sent home with me from Texas.  It was a delicious dinner!

Goodnight lower 48,
ErIn
